Day 2 - Welcome to Zurich

Upon arrival into Zurich, make your way to the hotel. Relax for the remainder of the day in this cosmopolitan city, which combines creative urban life with the freedom of nature.

Day 3 - Zurich - Interlaken

This morning, take the local train to Interlaken, enjoying the scenery along the train route. As the name suggests, this typical Swiss town is located in between two lakes and offers the best in outdoor sports activities, from rafting to hiking, skiing to paragliding. Upon arrival check in at the hotel and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 4 - Interlaken Free Day

Today enjoy a free day at leisure in Interlaken. Explore the village and its stunning mountain surroundings, or perhaps take an optional trip by cable car and mountain railway to the Jungfraujoch, also known as the “Top of Europe” (not included).

Enjoy a guided tour to Jungfraujoch today - the summit offers the best views over the Eiger and the Mönch from the Sphinx Terrace. The historic railways of the Jungfrau Mountains are an absolute joy. Day 5 - Interlaken - Golden Pass Express - Montreux

Today journey on the famous Golden Pass Express. This spectacular train route travels via Gstaad – a favoured holiday spot of many celebrities (total trip approx. 2.5 hours). Montreux is located on Lake Geneva and protected by high mountain peaks. It’s famous for its mild climate and subtropical vegetation. After checking in, enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

The town's promenade is lined with flowers, sculptures, Mediterranean trees and grand Belle Époque buildings. Offshore is a medieval island castle, Château de Chillon, this fairytale castle is built on a rock standing off the shore of Lake Geneva and offers visitors a true experience of medieval splendour (entrance not included).

Day 6 - Montreux - Zermatt

This morning, take the InterRegional mainline train from Montreux to Visp and from there the local train to Zermatt (total trip approx. 2.5 hours). Arrive in Zermatt and transfer to the hotel. Zermatt, nestled at the foot of the mighty Matterhorn Glacier, is a charming car free town, where you can relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air and awe-inspiring views of the peak.

Day 8 - Zermatt - Glacier Express - St Moritz

Today experience another inspiring train journey. Board the slowest express train in the world: The Glacier Express to St Moritz. The train winds its way up to over 2,000m at the Oberalp Pass, through an unspoilt landscape of glaciers, ancient forests, rushing mountain streams and valleys, passing through 91 tunnels and across 291 impressive bridges. It will be a truly unforgettable journey.

Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. St. Moritz is the number one alpine holiday destination - its name is a registered trademark and stands for style, elegance and class. The city first became famous thanks to its mineral springs, which were discovered 3,000 years ago and established the town as a summer spa resort early on.

Day 9 - St Moritz - Bernina Express - Tirano, Italy - Lugano, Switzerland

After breakfast take the Bernina Express from St. Moritz to Tirano (approx. 4 hours). One of the world’s most famous trains, the Bernina Express allows travellers uninterrupted panoramic views across mountains, lakes and meadows. Crossing the Alps in style, the train climbs to an impressive 2,223m to the Bernina Pass and offers breathtaking vistas as you ride over impressive viaducts and past galleries hewn from sheer rock. There are beautiful views of rushing mountain streams, glaciers and even an alpine garden en route to the terminus in Tirano, which lies just over the Italian border. The line is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

On arrival in Tirano, spend some free time exploring this quaint Italian town in Northern Italy - a departure point for one of the most scenic train routes in Europe. Afterwards, take the Bernina Express bus from Tirano Station to Lugano Station. This special bus with its large panoramic windows takes you on a journey through scenic countryside and villages. Lugano is a welcoming town that boasts a historic centre and attractive shops and restaurants to explore.

After breakfast take the local train from Lugano (or Bellinzona in for April 2024 departures) to the beautiful city of Lucerne (approximately 2 hours), nestled amongst lakes and soaring peaks in the heart of central Switzerland. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore. You could take a romantic walk through the city centre, admire the medieval Chapel Bridge with its gable paintings, or enjoy a delicious lunch (not included) at one of the many traditional restaurants.

Today take a local train to Zurich (approx. 1 hour), arriving in the bustling metropolis in time for a leisurely lunch (not included) at one of the city’s many excellent restaurants. Enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure. This evening why not head to one of the many fondue restaurants in town for dinner (not included). Cheese, meat or chocolate - Fondue is the national dish of Switzerland and should not be missed!

    TOUR GUIDE VS. TOUR LEADER
    Tour Guide 
    Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group.

    Tour Leader 
    An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however, they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined.

    Please note: Tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured.

    CLIMATE & AVERAGE TEMPERATURES
    Europe 
    Spring in Europe is in March, April and May is a great season to discover Europe. Temperatures range from lows of 5°C to highs of 19°C. Summer is from June to August and is when the region is at its peak travel time with many Europeans and Brits heading to the coastlines of France, Spain, Greece, Italy and Turkey to soak up some vitamin D. Generally speaking, Europe's summer temperatures average around 20° Celsius. Average temperatures for September and October at major cities throughout Europe average around 15°C.

    Seat Selection & Frequent Flyer Points 
    At TripADeal we do not arrange seat selection. It is important to highlight that some Airlines do not allow pre-selected seats. We strongly suggest you contact the Airline directly with seating allocation requirements and or arrive at the airport earlier to arrange your seating. While we do not add frequent flyer member details to bookings, you can do this directly with the Airline once you have your flight information.

    Passport Validity 
    Customers are required to provide valid passport details either at the time of purchase or no later than 45 days prior to the departure date. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the booking. In this instance, customers will be responsible for any costs and fees incurred.

    Meals 
    Daily breakfast is included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour leader (when available) will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. It is your responsibility to notify TripADeal of any dietary requests/requirements.

    Luggage 
    You will be responsible for all your personal belongings whilst on the tour. With regards to luggage, you must carry your own luggage from the coach to the hotel room and back to the coach. The driver will assist with the uploading and off-loading of the luggage from the coach.

    Fitness Level Required
    Adventure (and spontaneity) create some of the best travel memories. Bear in mind, your home schedules and timings might not be adhered to on tour - it's all part of the fun!

    A Moderate level of fitness will be required. Expect a moderate pace of touring with a focus on guided tours that may include full days with extended activity, guided city tours or nature walks. You will require a general level of fitness for unassisted navigation of stairs and inclines, longer distances with possible periods of standing when visiting sites, walking on sloping, uneven ground or elevations. You will be responsible for your own luggage and have the ability to board all modes of transport without assistance.

    Please note:
    • Many areas may be inaccessible to wheelchairs or mobility scooters, where the unassisted use of personal walking sticks and other aids may be required. Although some assistance may be available, every traveller should be self-reliant during all aspects of their travel.

    A tourist visa is not required for stays up to 90 days if travelling on an Australian Passport.EU Entry/Exit System (EES)
    From October 12, 2025, a new European Entry System (EES) replaces the current manual passport-stamping process for non-EU travellers. Upon arrival in the Schengen area, Australian and New Zealand passport holders will have their fingerprints recorded and a photograph taken. Their entry and exit dates will be electronically registered. No previous action is required, but please be aware of longer wait times at border entry. From 10 April 2026, the EES will be fully operational at all external border crossing points of all the European countries (Schengen area) using the system.European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS)
    As an extension of the EES implementation introduced from 2025, ETIAS travel authorisation is a mandatory entry requirement for visa-exempt nationals travelling to any of these 30 European countries, including Australian and New Zealand citizens, that will be introduced in 2026.     United Kingdom
    The UK Government announced the next phase in the roll out of Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs). As of 8th January 2025, all Australia and New Zealand passport holders will require an ETA to enter the UK. An ETA gives visitors permission to travel to the UK. Visitors who do not currently need a visa may need to apply an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to travel to the UK, please refer to the UK Government website for further information.

    Visa rules may have changed since COVID-19. Check with the nearest embassy, consulate or immigration department of the destination you're entering.
    Please note: Passengers who are not Australian citizens must check with the respective consulate or visa agency to determine what their visa requirements are and what personal identification is required. It is also important to note, some areas of employment such as journalism, government authorities and charity organisations may have additional restrictions in applying for Visas. This may in turn affect the type of application required.
